In the heart of the South Charente stands the Old Cognac Estate, a stately and authentic fortified manor dating the 15th century. Once the home to an advisor to François I, France’s Renaissance king, today the logis and out-buildings have been sensitively restored using native materials, and the decoration has been interpreted in a rustic / contemporary style.
Overlooking the courtyard are three beautiful bedrooms and a guest house for two. All have central heating and private entrances. Rooms are non-smoking. An unsupervised swimming pool on the property is available during summer months.
Whist wedding dinners tend to take place outdoors (amidst the splendour of the open fires in the central countryard and medieval lanterns) the barn can be transformed to allow for up to 80 dining guests. The whole estate is of the highest quality in terms of finish, and the atmosphere is nothing short of magical.
